Hi, i am sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, but i didnt know where to post it!!!?
Anyway, i have just bought a 1210 and am planning to do it up, but at the moment i am stumped with a few things, so please can someone help me.
Where do i check the gearbox oil?
Where do i top up the gearbox oil?
What grade of gearbox oil should i use?
All answers gratefully received.

Welcome to the DBTC Forum.
There is a dipstick for the gearbox oil level by the gear levers, on the left of the steering box, the filler is to the right. The oil should be clear, if milky or dark then it needs to be changed. Use multi purpose Agricultural oil for the transmission, do not be tempted with heavy gear oils or hydraulic oils. There is also a filter located in the bottom of the gearbox which I would recommend changing if you do not know when it was last changed ? |

| Oil checking depends on the age of your tractor. If it's a Q cab then there isn't a dipstick, the level is checked with a sight glass on the n/s of the gearbox (behind the step) |

i have seen a cd disk on ebay for a few pounds, which says it covers a few models including the 1210.
is it worth getting it?
or will it be rubbish?

ok, i have the sight glass behind the foot step, but it looks empty!!!!!!!! 
so, where do i fill the gearbox up?
is it under the seat on the left hand side at the back??
i have marked with an arrow where i think!!!
am i right...!!!thanks. |

I cant really make out your pictures, as they are tiny!!
I think what your pointing to is the hydrailic oil return port, you could fill up there, but it may take a while.
Look on the side of the PTO housing, there should be a filler cap there, not the easiest thing, you may need a flexi nose funnel for the job.
If its not registring on the sight gauge, perhaps now's a good time to start with a clean sheet of paper, drain out whats left, refil with clean oil and fit a new filter?

| There should be a red dot in the centre of the sight glass, this dot is the oil level mark. You will find the filler on the right hand side of the PTO housing just below the top link sensing unit/clevice, it is a screw bung with a square hole, same as the final drive bungs, on an elbow. |

ignore my blacj arrow!!, where do i aim with my gearbox oil!!? and roughly where is the gearbox oil filter.
also, how much gearbox oil will it take!!..
sorry for all the questions!!
but i am keen to get it spot on mechanically first.

its an upturned plastic bottle!!!!
so thats where i fill the oil up!!! i thought it was a hydraulic bit!!
it was just left open, so i found a bolt and screwed it in!!, is that ok to do?
